Katherine, the boys, and I arrived in Germany one year ago today. (Cue cheers and applause.) In the past several months – and I do mean several – I have been remiss in updating our site with news about what we’re doing and how life is going. Of course, it’s easy to forget, when life and work seem so very normal. One thinks, “What is there to write about?”
What’s worse is that in the time that has passed since we sent our last newsletter, NASA has launched and landed another rover on Mars. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to write and mail a newsletter, does it? Maybe that’s my problem …
Right now, I’m providing computer and network support for a conference taking place in the Black Forest region. It’s for people who work in difficult conditions, and I can tell that they’re quite happy to be together. Above and beyond the requisite meetings, they spend much of their time getting (re-)acquainted, refreshing their spirits, and preparing themselves for the next stretch of time and work. When you pray, please remember these individuals and families who sacrifice the “normal” life we enjoy for the sake of the Kingdom of God and his Word.
When I return from this conference, I will work on writing a newsletter to highlight what has happened in our family life and in my work over the past year. If Curiosity can endure “7 minutes of terror”, then surely I can persevere through “7 pages of terror”.
No, not really. If it were that long, the terror would be yours, not mine.
